Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Dream Pillager
I have wanted to play this for a while... but it's always either not made the cut or not gotten cast anyway.

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
Ever since you clued me into the three card base of this combo and I jammed it in Kykar, Wind's Fury , I've been looking at uses for it. My build, being a token swarm deck that benefits from a high storm count, is usually content to just get the infinite storm/mana and tap down opponents' creatures...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
Here's the next question on my mind: How Bad is a 4-card Combo? If you have experience playing magic, especially if you like playing bad combos like me, you intuitively understand that requiring an extra card for your win condition makes it immensely less likely to actually happen. In theory, the di...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
Not sure what you'd want to cut, but I can recommend giving it a punt for sure. Circling back to this question of what to cut, I just took stock of the deck looking for answers. The 4 cards I suggested I'd want to wedge in here again are Nahiri's Wrath , Rest in Peace , Narset's Reversal , and Chao...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
See that didn't take long to break now did it? Lol. This is entirely within the realms of possibility for this deck too, so. To be honest I can't really see an instant/sorcery spell that it wouldn't do good things with. Can you imagine how obstinate you could be once it's in the Eye of the Storm ? ...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
It's been a little while since I dipped my toe in the cool, chaotic waters of Zedruu, but Dream Trawler seems made for you. I can't see it being anything but spectacular. The only unfavourable part is it's heavily coloured CMC, but Possibility Storm will see you right I'm sure. I gave Dream Trawler...

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
Played 2 games with Zedruu last night at a store I hadn't visited in a while, one of which I did nothing because I kept a greedy hand, and one of which I turn-6'd the table with Unbender Tine and Azor's Gateway . There were some new faces. However, it seems as though the style of game there has veer...

Re: Sisay, the Band Captain
No need to be torn! Kenny returns creatures under their owner's control, so while you can get non-legendary creatures out of the yard, your board will remain in pristine legendary condition. What do you think of Nylea's Intervention for the deck? It may cost more than Sylvan Scrying for finding a s...

Re: Sisay, the Band Captain
I don't think I ever noticed Saskia is vigilant. I've been pondering through the Selvala suggestion, and I've come to a crossroads. I was questioning whether I should include it, because including it makes it a sort of soft combo deck with almost no other changes. BUT then I reread the card and I ha...

Sisay, the Band Captain
Yeah banding is super cool. How about blind seer so you can make sure you're able to band the creatures you want to If I'm paying mana to do it, I may as well pay the mana into Sisay, add something like Roon of the Hidden Realm to flicker Golos and tutor out all 3 lands. As currently built, that sh...

Sisay, the Band Captain
I love this, I have envisioned banding decks before but never made one. I do randomly toss baton of morale in decks sometimes for the sake of a magic history lesson. I also use the banding wolves in tolsimir and they are surprisingly effective. Trample damage can be a thing in my meta sometimes and...

Sisay, the Band Captain
I'm surprised you don't have selvala, heart of the wilds in there as I consider her considerably better than every single creature you have listed. Bloom tender and faeburrow elder are all-star mana producers in the deck as well. I also utilize them with various untappers - derevi, gideon, martial ...

Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
I simply cannot see how you manage to exile [Mirror of Fate] with the Mirror+Eye+Echo+Mind's Desire combo I just don't. I copy the Mirror of Fate with Echo Storm every time through the cycle and then never sacrifice the original. That being said, getting a graveyard exiler back in the deck is alway...

Jodah and Umori, his Banding Companion
This is third version of my banding deck. The original starred Bruse Tarl, Boorish Herder and Thrasios, Triton Hero , because partners with banding needed to happen. Then I wanted it 5-color and changed to Sisay, Weatherlight Captain . Then I wanted more casual play and they printed companions, so n...

Zedruu, the Buffhearted
A wise Zedruu player once passed wisdom onto me which I pass on to everyone I see play Zedruu: Pentad Prism is great. It gets you the mana and colors needed to start pumping out Zedruu value early, and it's a widget to donate. Second thought: All that Glitters probably hits for a million, but it's g...

Re: Uro, Titan who brings the Doomsday Aurora
How about.. Cephalid Coliseum , Deep Analysis , Woodland Guidance , Gitaxian Probe , 2 random cards, The Great Aurora . You'll also need High Tide + Dryad of the Ilysian Grove / Prismatic Omen + High Market . Let's say you have 9 lands + Dryad of the Ilysian Grove / Prismatic Omen + High Market . 1...

Re: Uro, Titan who brings the Doomsday Aurora
Actually I've thought of a pile that should keep recasting The Great Aurora infinitely. This is the sort of thing I was trying to think through. This is closer than I was getting on my own, but there are a couple issues in your solution. When you counted up the mana, you sort of double counter the ...

Re: Uro, Titan who brings the Doomsday Aurora
I'm gonna think about this deck. My instincts feel like the second Great Aurora should be pretty game winning, but to actually play it out is trickier than just hitting the win button.
But if you ever wanted a tutor for just specifically The Great Aurora, Grozoth has got your back.

Even Hazoret the Pervert? I'm surprised that one isn't a beloved collector's item for mature, serious people.
Side note: Rhonas the Indomitable is awesome with banding.

Re: What's your most unusual commander and/or deck?
I've a zedruu voltron deck. And you told me to play Pentad Prism , the best Zedruu advice. I also have a rakdos the defiler suicide RB aggro. Ever seen hellcarver demon used? Funny story. I was at CommandFest DC, and played Zedruu every game of magic except one. That game I played Olivia, Mobilized...

Re: Quick PSA: sometimes it's OK to be greedy
I think you could probably call these things heuristics. And they really do have value because it lets you reduce the mental load of playing the game and offload it to pre-defined algorithms essentially, but people need to know that learning the rules is just a step on the way to playing well. If y...
