Re: "Quirks That Define Your EDH Style"
I seem to be red-heavy. My fav decks are: - zedruu voltron - rakdos the defiler suicide aggro - lord of tresserhorn 'leaves the battlefield' tribal I got like a deck carrier that holds 7 decks, so for a year or two I've kept myself down to 7 decks at a time, and I've never had less than 5 with red ...

Re: Unreleased and New Card Discussion
Syr Cadian, Knight Owl is probably the deepest wordplay ever to hit a Magic card, and sets up a pretty straightforward mix of B/W knight tribal with B/W life gain shananigans.

Re: Deck restrictions
I hold myself to 3 different kinds of restrictions: a) The social restriction: avoid doing things with a proven record of bringing down the room. b) The personal preference: don't play cards that make the cards I actually like feel like plan B. c) Because I can: sometimes you're just so close to a g...

Re: "Quirks That Define Your EDH Style"
Well, it's much easier to define my EDH style with a particular deck rather than try and describe it in words, but if I had to use a word, I'd go with unfocused. Not that I'm unfocused as a player, but my decks themselves lack a specific focus. I prefer to take a vague concept of the deck and cram i...

Re: What's your most unusual commander and/or deck?
tstorm823 : Please tell me you have that banding list! I've been considering this, but I'd probably have to print out the banding section of the comp rules and keep it with the deck, just so my opponents (and myself for that matter) can be sure I'm doing it right. I have a banding list back over on...

Re: What's your most unusual commander and/or deck?
It'd be nice to hear what others come up with and have done with mirrorweave. Things I've Mirrorweave d, you say? Blightsteel Colossus . Goblin Rabblemaster with an Akroma's Memorial . Drogskol Reaver for a double kill, the defending player died to the damage, the attacking player drew out. And the...

Re: What's your most unusual commander and/or deck?
(The Zedruu build is highly unusual, too, but tstorm823 can speak to it since its his.) I don't know, Zedruu seems like a pretty popular answer in here. It's probably the right answer, but I want to say something different. I do have a deck built around the lands that give legends banding and then ...

Re: Aminatou, the Fateshifter - The 8-year-old Planeswalker
Thanks for the extra detailed analysis. That was an excellent read. Not to be pushy, but like, I really do think Elspeth Conquers Death has a ton of genuinely oppressive play patterns with specifically your build of Aminatou. The first chapter is going to be the same power pretty much regardless of ...

Re: Kykar, Wind's Fury - Jeskai Tokens
Closest you'll probably get is Walking Ballista and running Cathars' Crusade , Breach loop to put counters on it and deal damage that way. If you're on etb's, Pandemonium or Warstorm Surge gets the job done. What's nice about Kyren Negotiations is that you also benefit from what you have on board a...

Re: Kykar, Wind's Fury - Jeskai Tokens
Yeah, turnabout is a house. I always knew I'd run it in an enchantment heavy build to go with opposition , Kyren negotiations , intruder alarm , and jeskai ascendancy , but you make a good case for it even apart from that. Now you've given me more to think about with the turnabout/reversal/bonus co...

Re: Aminatou, the Fateshifter - The 8-year-old Planeswalker
Have you considered the new card Elspeth Conquers Death ? 5 is a lot of mana, but with a blink every turn it becomes an exile every turn plus an almost permanent 2-mana tax on all your opponent's noncreature spells. And then the 3rd chapter reanimates a creature or planeswalker with an extra counter...

Re: Kykar, Wind's Fury - Jeskai Tokens
This made me chuckle. Honestly, I would run reversal if it wasn't double blue. U/W mana is really at a premium in the deck, which is why I included chromatic lantern despite it being a 3cmc rock. I only get away with stuff like absorb and counterflux because of sunforger . Still, I'm willing to be ...

Re: The S.O. Complication
That depends on the circumstance: If it's one person really involved in the game bringing along an SO because they want to enjoy the time together, I see no problem with casual cooperation, the other people just have to adjust to more of a 2-headed giant. That can still be fun. If it's two people he...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Heretic's Punishment
To be sure, it isn't good, but to make everyone feel slightly better about it, I once used it to make an Animar deck play fair magic. Edit: I may have been unclear with this post. I was playing with this against an Animar deck and used it to keep the Animar dead, so that opponent had to play creatur...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Heretic's Punishment
I also want to love it. I love the side-game of trying to guess if you can kill a creature or not. The 4 per activation I actually think is pretty fair, but the 5 cmc is way too much. If you could plop this down in a reactive deck, particularly one that uses the graveyard, on like turn 1, and then j...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
Hello All So I thought I would introduce myself. I have been playing MtG since 1997 and EDH since 2009. I recently moved to Florida with my wife and four kids. I get bored of decks quickly, but have not been able to play much recently. I am working on my MEd - Instructional Design currently about h...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
I swear, there is nothing that beats that deck for shenanigans. Its delirium in 100 cards or less. I take great joy knowing that the nonsense cards I like to play just absolutely obliterate even the fluffiest of pillow forts. I'm basically still in until you kill me or stop me from casting spells e...

. . . but then while I was searching my library for Chaos Warp I saw Mirrorweave . . . LULZ! I still had never resolved this thing and realized that I could just turn everything into Thundering Spineback with it, so I did! The dino gang smacked Drana for 96 damage and 0 Gishath triggers. From there...

Re: [Off-Topic] Community Chat Thread
I've seen this before in an Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim deck that searched and exiled cards from opponent libraries to remove anything that could keep them from decking themselves. I was thinking of doing this with Oloro so I could add Extract and a little bit of counter-spelling as backup for Abolisher....

Re: Zedruu the Greatest of All Time
