Re: Gadrak in the 99
My first thought for him was a RBx build, with Karn, Silver Golem and Dark Prophecy effects; to turn the treasures into draw effects when needed. If you have an anthem effect, you can cascade the first activation by making a creature, sacking for the 1 mana to make the next treasure a creature and s...

Re: Is This Format Too Dependent on Netdecking?
Online research =/= "Netdecking" One is learning about the game, cards, interactions, etc. The other lifting at least >50% of a complete decklist And while I agree with most of what has been said so far, the one point I wanted to address is what I think some of the root causes of the bad r...

I say play the Generals you like.
I still have Karn, Silver Golem, Xira Arien, Zuberi, Golden Feather, Lord of Tresserhorn, etc.

Yes, I would guess venue makes a difference. I'm used to 5 player games on a round cafeteria table, not a square or rectangular table.

Re: Super long turns?
Agree, practicing with a deck is important. Knowing what you are planning to do, or what options you have to work toward is also important. What I didn't see mentioned above, but also think merits consideration: Pre-game discussion. Before drawing the opening hand, the group should discuss some poss...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Boldwyr Intimidator
Boldwyr Intimidator is essentially inefficient evasion. Assuming sufficient mana (or all your creatures are warriors), it can turn all of an opponent's creatures into cowards and let you alpha strike. This is, however, pretty mana-intensive - not only do you need to pay 5 mana for Intimidator in th...

Thank you @cryogen for putting this together again.

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Breathstealer's Crypt
I run this in Sygg, River Cutthroat , where either option is good for me. Discarding the creature means less blockers; paying the life turns Sygg on for the turn. I also like pairing it with Sweep Away effects (Is that creature double-cost, pay-6-life good?) I could also see it being better in decks...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Apocalypse Chime
Claws of Gix has been considered in some of my lifegain focused decks (with Well of Lost Dreams it becomes 2, sac sumthin: gain 1 life, draw) but unless you realy need a lot of outlets or you are all in on lifegain - gaining life is one of he least useful sac outlet versions. I think the design int...

Looking for the different approaches I can take, and also for some ideas for specific generals. Please nothing that is super combo or tutor orientated, but more convoluted or jankier combos can be considered I'll swing the other way with some possibly more obscure ideas: Inalla, Archmage Ritualist ...

Re: Do you curve your rocks or play all the 2 CMC ones?
My ramp is determined by (roughly in order): - Theme/subtheme (e.g. Everflowing Chalice in a proliferate deck, Golgari Keyrune in my Insect deck, Borderposts in the landfall deck) - Versatility (what does it do besides ramp) (e.g. Mind Stone vertical cycle if I need the draw and don't mind C, but Cl...

Re: [mtgnexus] Random Card of the Day - Pir & Toothy
I use Toothy, Imaginary Friend as the commander of my Mono-U Illusion deck. Don't have much use for Pir, Imaginative Rascal though. Mostly, I'm just sad/annoyed that none of the "partner's with" pairs ever share a creature type, and none of the pairs (this one included) are interesting eno...

Re: Nexus Online Playgroup Thread!
I miss our friday games on modo. Those were fun. Wish I could join your cam games too, but 1) I don't have a cam and 2) my internet is not strong enough to connect this way. Stupid dsl. I've been on a few Fridays, but not usually until 2130-220 EDT, and I rarely see anybody but darrenhabib there. I...

Re: Nexus Online Playgroup Thread!
Playing online is weird. So much of EDH is politics and talking, but it is mostly silent when playing with randoms. Plus there is always one person playing a CEDH deck and one playing a deck that is maybe a 4 (if I am being generous) on the powerscale. Not that enjoyable. But I am sure, well, hopin...

Re: When a game ends up 1v1 - Gloves on or off?
I feel like morality is not situation dependent. If I don't want "it" in a casual multi-player game, I don't want it when that game is down to two players. I do play targeted land destruction (of course), but looping that option, breaking out MLD, or other options that I find distasteful w...

Re: Second Annual MTGNexus Commander Climate Survey
Wow, I'm surprised that Cyclonic Rift is the highest ban-request card right now. I mean, I personally hate the card from a design standpoint, but I never expected it to beat the calls on Crypt and Sol Ring. I'm really impressed. I don't find it all that shocking, at least from a casual standpoint. ...

Re: Group Think: O-Kagachi
Still, it may be possible to add a bit more direction / focus to the phase. Maybe something like 'nominate 3 cards to cut, the next person to post chooses one of those to actually cut and nominates 3 more'? I'm not entirely sure whether that is more or less work than adding votes for cuts one at a ...

Thanks for putting this together. Unfortunately, all of the changes I would like to see rest at WotC, not with the RC/CAG. I voted infect for 20, but that's because I believe that all of the life based "things" should have errata to make them match the new template (e.g. Torgaar, Famine In...
