"Doom" seems a little strong here.
Mirri, Cat Warrior counts as a Cat Warrior.

In EDH, it's almost impossible for a player to have nothing, so it's likely not going to go anywhere... and if it does, you get three benefits.

So you have too sacrifice too and if you have nothing, you have to sacrifice itself so it won't trigger? weird card...

The Abyss variants always interest me. Has some interesting distinctions compared to the original. When the Abyss is out, people usually just stop playing creatures. However, this also hits other card types, which makes it a bit harder to play around - most people won't want to stop playing cards entirely. Simultaneously, it only eats nontokens, which are the most common sacrifice fodder (although other options exist). The card does eat itself eventually, once someone runs out of stuff, which is how more recent Abysses usually work.

Some interesting attributes in that it can sacrifice itself, so its controller will (almost) never be hit by the penalty clause. Sort of a pity, since rummage + make a knight token is a net benefit.

Against control holding an empty board, this is pretty sweet. OTOH, if it backfires on you, you merely loot and get a 2/2.

Ooops, nothing happens if you sacrifice it to itself... :(
